Field of Research : Administration and Management

Preliminary Research Design : Descriptive Study

Preliminary Research Type : Basic

Preliminary Justification : The responsible conduct of research (RCR) is an increasingly significant component of the education and training of researchers. The proper conduct of research is critical to its credibility, the trust in its outcomes, and the integrity of the published record. Students should be sincere in all the aspects of academic work including conducting a research and writing the thesis. As a researcher, use of honest and verifiable methods in proposing, performing and evaluating research is necessitated. Reporting results with particular attention to adherence to rules, regulation and guidelines are also important. Guidance for the responsible conduct of research is not well organized. Some responsible practices are defined through law and institutional policies that must be followed. Others are set out in non-binding codes and guidelines that should be followed. However, responsible practices are commonly accepted by most researchers but not written down. Therefore, researchers who conduct research, especially involving humans, must comply with all relevant regulations related to the protection of human subjects. Moreover, other relevant codes that have been formulated by professional groups for preventing research misconduct need to be followed. Research misconduct may have serious consequences for patients or may experience harmful effects from a treatment made by false and misleading information in the name of science. Between the responsible conduct of research and research misconduct, there is a grey zone within which questionable research practices remain a problem. Moreover, this zone has vague boundaries .To the extent that questionable research practices are much more widespread, they may have serious consequences for both the reliability of scientific results and public trust in them. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the concepts of RCR for researchers and to reflect on the implications for personal practice. Awareness, perception and understanding of RCR would be valuable to research institutions, individual researchers, students, and all those interested in research results. There is a need to promote a positive, values-based environment for RCR in academic research. By doing this research, some information will be provided for creating culture of scientific integrity and promote positive research environment. This will provide the best road map to benefit for students and upgrade of research curriculum.
